In 2003 I decided to have a small old picture of Humboldt that I saw at Sharlot Hall enlarged and framed. I wanted to give it to my friend Bonnie Coulter who was the owner of the most popular meeting place in town, the Sweet Tease to hang on that establishment's wall.It generated so much comment that we decided we needed to do more of the same. From that simple beginning and handful of people the Historic Society was formed. We were such a small group with no money, no idea of what forming a historical society entailed, and so much to do we were overwhelmed. Twice a month myself, Bonnie Coulter, Betty Joy, the Rains, Phil Scott, and a few others met at the Sweet Tease for a meeting to discuss what needed to be done and what our next step was. We managed to collect pictures of historic interest from people in the area.
