☞  When Your Register - Indicate What Portion of the Trip You Will Be Going On  ☜

The FIRST PORTION of this Backcountry Outing will only go as far as Poland Train Tunnel - Suitable for All Vehicles

The SECOND (OPTIONAL) PORTION of this Outing will continue on for a Full Day to Palace Station Requires an Off-Road Vehicle

Time & Place:   Monday, March 23rd.  You’ll be advised of the meeting time via e-mail with a confirmation.

Outing Length:  The trip to Poland Tunnel and back is only a couple hours.   The rest of the trip is pretty much a Full Day, returning late afternoon.

Communication:  GMRS Channel 7  / Frequency 462.712 MHz.

Vehicle Requirements:   The Drive to Poland Train Tunnel requires nothing special.

If you want to continue on to Palace Station you’ll need 4-Wheel Drive with Good Clearance.   No pinstripes, we’ll be on National Forest Roads the entire way, but some rocky portions of the road.

  • At least A/T tires (no street tires) with good tread life.

  • A Full Size Spare - we’ve had flats on outings (not many) but it can happen.

  • Have your Vehicle Mechanically Sound and Excellent Running Condition.

If You Have A Spare Seat And Can Accommodate A Rider Let Me Know.

We Want As Many Participants As Possible And Not Everyone Has An Off-Road Capable Vehicle.

Safety & Comfort:  It is highly recommended that you wear hiking boots or something equivalent.   Bring a walking stick or hiking pole, these locations have some volcanic rock, which is not only hard, but can be sharp.  Dress for the weather and plan for a lunch stop along the way.

Dogs:  We love to have our canine companions join us on these outings.

These trips are primarily for our Dewey-Humboldt Historical Society members.   However, if you’re new you're welcome to come along and hopefully you’ll want to support our mission to preserve and education others about our local history!

At the end of the day we’ll gladly accept any donations to help support your Historical Society and finish the Museum.   Donations also keep these outings going, as it takes time, planning and a commitment for each one.   Your continued financial support of the Historical Society makes that effort worthwhile.

Let’s have a Great Day and Get Out & Explore!
